This page covers service configuration and discovery tools available to Chronosphere Support. For user-facing tools, see Managing service discovery. The information outlined here will become part of the service discovery page as Chronosphere makes this feature available to external users.

Create a discovery template

To create a discovery template:

  1. On the Service Configuration page, click Service discovery templates > + Create.

  2. Add a Template name.

  3. Add a Service service template variable.

  4. Add Dashboard JSON.

This JSON comes from an existing native dashboard. Convert Grafana dashboards to a native dashboard before using them in service configuration.

A native dashboard must be owned by a service, and should have panels. You can retrieve the JSON of an existing dashboard from Chronosphere Observability Platform by navigating to the dashboard and clicking Download JSON.

Paste the JSON into the Dashboard JSON box.

  5. Click Stage changes to review your Service discovery preview.

  6. Click Run service discovery to update your service discovery.

Change the presentation of a custom component

You can change the presentation of a custom component. Users can't edit Chronosphere-managed components.

  1. Click the three vertical dots and then select Edit presentation.
  2. In the custom component's page, click Edit.
  3. Customize the desired dashboard components:
  4. Click Add.
